Crowd-Pleasing Irresistible Butter Boards

Last Updated 12/12/2024Posted in Southern Holiday, Recipes, Christmas

A new food trend that has been making its way through social media is perfect for any holiday gathering, and of course, we had to give you some tips and tricks to make your very own!

By now, most reading this have heard or sampled at least one charcuterie board. Butter boards are another way to use those fancy wood boards we have all purchased in the last few years.

To put it simply, a butter board is softened butter smeared on a portable flat surface (think charcuterie board or platter) and topped with different ingredients. To enjoy you use a butter knife to smear or spread on bread, crackers or what ever you choose.

Presentation is key, which is another reason it pairs wonderfully with any holiday gathering. Once we saw these scrumptious delights, we knew we had to put our own spin on the craze and take it from the team at Southern Holiday Life, you are only limited by your imagination!!!!!

We included two takes on the butter board craze and we are the first to say, we didn't use butter on any one of them. But we did use a couple of Southern Brands that we truly love!

Before we get into recipes, we do want to offer a few things to consider. First, if you are worried about the butter board being safe to eat, we get it. That was one of our first questions, too. After thinking it through, we decided not to put our creation directly on our wood board. We used wax paper on our cheesecake board. We cut it to fit and then taped it down. Clean up was a breeze and we didn't have to worry about the butter on our wooden board. You can also put it in the refrigerator until you are ready to get the party started.

Another option instead of using a wooden board is a ceramic platter, or even better, a third choice is to buy a disposable board for the occasion.

So now that food safety has been addressed, let's get to the fun of it. Our creations!

We are only including measurements on necessary ingredients. The rest of the recipe depends on your liking and taste. If you don't like coconut, leave it out. If you prefer pumpkin spice, do you! In other words, get creative with your toppings!

Jennifer's Kitchen Baked Pepper Jelly Dip

We have loved Holiday Pepper Jelly from Alabama's own Jennifer's Kitchen for quite some time, the combination of cranberry and pecan with the heat of the peppers is just great!

And Jennifer created a savory baked cheesecake that is the inspiration for this recipe. In this case, our board is a pizza pan because we did want to put this in the oven to bake.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 6 ounces of Jennifer's Kitchen Holiday pepper jelly
  • 4 ounces of Jennifer's Kitchen Hot Confetti pepper jelly
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup real bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, combine cream cheese, minced onion and garlic. With butter knife or small spatula, spread mixture on a pizza pan. In a separate bowl combine the two pepper jellies. Spoon pepper jelly on top of the cream cheese mixture. Top with half of the cheddar cheese and the bacon bits. Cook for 20 minutes until bubbly. Top with remaining cheese and pecans. Serve immediately with pita chips or crackers of choice.
